Food Contact Surface

Food Contact Surface

Any surface that directly touches food, requiring FDA-compliant materials like food-grade HDPE.

A food contact surface is any material surface that food touches during processing, storage, preparation, or serving. Under FDA regulations (21 CFR 177.1520), food contact surfaces must be made from approved materials that won't leach harmful chemicals into food. Food-grade HDPE pails meet these requirements and are approved for direct food contact. All food contact surfaces must be smooth, non-porous, and easily cleanable. This is critical for restaurants, food processors, and anyone storing edible products.
