Mylar Bag

Mylar Bag

A metalized polyester barrier bag used inside pails to protect food from moisture, light, and oxygen.

Mylar bags are made from BoPET (biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate) film with a metalized aluminum layer, creating an excellent barrier against moisture, oxygen, and light. When used inside 5-gallon pails with oxygen absorbers, Mylar bags can preserve dry foods for 20-30 years. Standard Mylar bags for 5-gallon pails are 5-7 mil thick and hold approximately 25-35 lbs of dry goods depending on density. They are heat-sealed for an airtight closure.
