Polypropylene (PP)

Polypropylene (PP)

A heat-resistant thermoplastic used for hot-fill applications with higher temperature tolerance than HDPE.

Polypropylene (PP) is a thermoplastic polymer with excellent heat resistance, withstanding temperatures up to 230°F — significantly higher than HDPE's 140°F limit. PP is the preferred material for hot-fill applications such as freshly cooked foods, sauces, and heated chemicals. PP containers are lighter than HDPE equivalents but have slightly lower impact resistance at cold temperatures. Identified by resin code #5.
