Child-Resistant Lid

Child-Resistant Lid

A pail lid designed to prevent children from opening, required for certain hazardous household chemicals.

Child-resistant lids are specially designed closures that require a specific sequence of actions (push-and-turn, squeeze-and-turn) to open, making them difficult for children under 5 to access. Required by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act for certain household chemicals, pesticides, and hazardous substances. HDPE pails with child-resistant lids are common in paint, pool chemical, and cleaning product packaging.
