DOT Approved

Containers meeting Department of Transportation requirements for transporting hazardous materials.

DOT (Department of Transportation) approved containers have passed comprehensive testing requirements outlined in 49 CFR Part 178 for transporting hazardous materials. DOT-approved pails must display the UN certification marking and meet specific performance standards including drop tests (typically from heights of 4-6 feet), stacking tests (supporting multiple containers without failure), and hydrostatic pressure/leak tests. Additional requirements include puncture resistance tests, vibration tests, and temperature cycling. Only DOT-approved containers can legally transport certain hazmat classifications across state lines.
