Double Boiler Method
Double Boiler Method
A wax melting technique using a smaller container inside a larger bucket of hot water to safely and evenly melt candle wax.
The double boiler method is a safe technique for melting candle and cosmetic waxes using indirect heat. A smaller container of wax is placed inside a larger 5-gallon bucket filled with hot water. The surrounding water provides gentle, even heating that prevents scorching and reduces fire risk compared to direct heat. HDPE buckets are ideal as the outer vessel because they resist heat up to 180°F and won't crack or leach chemicals. This method is standard practice for candle makers processing large quantities of soy wax, paraffin, or beeswax.
