Drop Test

Drop Test

A UN/DOT performance test where filled containers are dropped from a specified height to verify integrity.

A drop test is a mandatory performance evaluation for UN-certified containers where a filled container is dropped from a specified height (typically 4 feet for Packing Group II, 2.6 feet for Packing Group III) onto a rigid surface. The container must survive without leaking or breaking. Drop tests simulate handling impacts during transportation and are required for UN 1H2 certification. Tests are performed at various orientations including flat, corner, and edge drops.
